I love teaching and I love seeing what wonderful work my students create. I would describe my approach to teaching as process, rather than product, driven. I gently encourage students to find their own artistic muse to help them decide what beautiful textile art they will make in my classes, using the new techniques they are learning, with my support as it is needed. I always have lots of samples and use demonstrations and plenty of one-on-one instruction to teach. My primary focus is to help students discover skills that allow them to express their creativity in exciting new ways.
My classes can run one to five days, depending on your arrangements and time; I can always go into lots more detail about materials and techniques. I can accommodate as many students as suits your group, as long as there is room for everyone to work comfortably. For some of the classes there are optional kits. Once your group has chosen the workshop you’d like me to teach, I will send the supply list to the convener to distribute to students.
From September 2017 - September 2019 my fees are: $500/one day workshop, $400/lecture and $.50/km mileage (subject to change, if gas prices increase). I live in Fergus, 20 minutes north of Guelph. You can check Google Maps to calculate my distance to the workshop venue from 640 Colquhoun St, Fergus ON, N1M 1S3. Multiply by 2 (for the return trip), then multiply by $.50/km. If I need to stay overnight, I appreciate being lodged and assume the group will cover/supply all meals and travel costs. I have a gluten free diet.
